Canadian Content, Ottawa Bluesfest edition.

Now, before anyone gets disappointed, Bluesfest is not a blues festival – hasn’t been for a long time. Sure, there may be some blues acts that sneak in, but the really big names are the likes of Snoop, Blue Rodeo, Iron Maiden and Paul Oakenfold. Bluesfest also shows a lot of great lesser-name Canadian acts. Here’s a sampling:

Tonight, St. John’s Hey Rosetta! is playing the Claridge Stage at 6:00:

On Saturday, Beirut is there at 7:30:

And on Sunday, “Ottawa ex-pats”, The Balconies, are playing the River Stage at 4:30:

I’d be remiss if I didn’t also plug some local acts that played Bluesfest this year.

The Love Machine:

And the curly haired girl from The Love Machine’s video is actually one of the The PepTides:

Have a great weekend, everyone.
