For the most part, the songs I play on Wednesdays are songs that I’ve heard on the radio or on a CD rather than experiencing them for the first time via the medium of “music video”.
This usually has me build up a music video in my head and then, when I watch the real thing, I’m disappointed. Their artistic vision and mine so rarely line up that I wonder at what the hell must I have thought to come to the conclusions I did.
Other times, I’m able to watch the video and think “nah, this artistic vision sucks.” Maybe I can see what they were shooting for, maybe I can’t, but they’d have been better off giving three large pizzas to a high school film club on Friday Night and running with whatever showed up the following Monday.
This is one of those times.
That said, over the last couple of weeks, I’ve played this song over and over and over and over in another tab where I didn’t have to watch the video.
So… what are you listening to?
Cults (I keep wanting to call them The Cults). And I actually enjoy both of their videos that I’ve seen. But the video footage in Go Outside is a bit freaky. While it’s a definite contrast to the actual song, that seems to enhance, rather than take away from the song.
