Wednesday!

Kate Bush’s 1989 Album The Sensual World was one of my three desert island discs there for a while (it might still be, actually, but that depends on whether we’re talking three albums (in which case I don’t know that it would be) or a dozen (in which case it definitely is)).

I wanted you to listen to Kate Bush working with Trio Bulgarka and David Gilmour here, but this album contains just oh-so-very many really good songs that I had to come back to this one (last one from this album, I promise).

Deeper Understanding is the opener to the album and (remember: this album came out in 1989!) is about a person who gets addicted to a “Voice Console” program on his or her computer. (If she had added lyrics about Farmville, she’d be a prophetess.)

(She did a remix of this song, like, just last April and made a music video for it and everything but she changed the voices and isn’t working with Trio Bulgarka in the new version and the voice is kinda creepy instead of downright sirenical. You can watch/listen here but, in my opinion, the original is perfect and why mess with perfection?)

So… what are you listening to?
