Sunday!

Apart from keeping up with the bookclub (and sneaking ahead on my own… HOLY COW I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW AWESOME SEASON THREE IS) and bugging Maribou about Season 2 (she watched White Tulip yesterday, you see), I haven’t had much time to do any watching (well, without spoiling anything) or reading much of anything. Enough about me.

So… what are you reading and/or watching?

Jaybird

Jaybird is Birdmojo on Xbox Live and Jaybirdmojo on Playstation's network. He's been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 and it was Zork that taught him how to touch-type. If you've got a song for Wednesday, a commercial for Saturday, a recommendation for Tuesday, an essay for Monday, or, heck, just a handful a questions, fire off an email to AskJaybird-at-gmail.com

  1. Perdido Street Station is still wanting me to read it in all of its paper glory but I can’t bring myself to return between its covers.
I’ve started reading Cloud Atlas because I heard some good things about it. Still reading The Cryptoterrestrials piecemeal and hope to finish it then reread it again to understand Mac Tonnie’s thesis.
Future Lovecraft is an anthology but I’m not driving myself to read each and every story.
I began Mike Flynn’s The January Dancer but he went on a digression about exo-Ireland politics in space and my eyes glazed over. Dunno if he’s trying to give a taste of GRRM or celebrating his shared heritage.
Want to reread Blindsight for its ideas on consciousness and how the aliens avoid detection by humans. Same goes for Lem’s Solaris which is the preferred translation not the Polish->French->English translation.

Beyond that I have sundry ebooks which are waiting patiently on my kindle.

  2. I was watching Milo and Otis for the first time in years, but apparently my little boy is either too cool for that or too young to understand why Otis is the bomb.

      • Me too! I wish I could get my little boy to enjoy it as much as I did. We ended watching The Great Pumpkin, so I wasn’t totally heart broken.
