Weekend!

Well, this weekend, I am going on my first leave-the-house vacation in… what? 5 years? Maybe 4. It’s only for 48 hours, key-in-the-door to key-in-the-door but it’s a start. That’s actually pretty much the whole weekend for me. I’m excited! And terrified!

So… what’s on your docket?

  1. Are you flipping kidding me, JB?! You boys are going to have soooo much fun.

It’s Memorial Day weekend so I’m not doing anything. It is all ‘working around the house/yard’ and ‘small town BBQ’ for me. And not the good southern BBQ, but the ‘I’m a vegetarian and live in the Northwest’ BBQ. 🙁

    • It’s the having fun, or discovering that you’ve forgotten how outside your comfort zone, that’s actually kind of terrifying. I mean there’s fun, and there’s unpredictable fun… with the anxiety of unpredictability competing against the fun and only one survives!

I’m totally looking forward to meeting everyone. Unreservedly. The rest? Gulp.

      • Don’t be so socially awkward and just go kick fun’s ass. If you must consume mass amounts of alcohol to get there, so be it.

          • Ugh, 151 has not been kind to me. Unless I’m lighting it on fire or it is in cherry flavored jello shots, it is no good. Come to think of it, the cherry flavor covers up the taste of 151 a little too well and I lost an entire day that way, once. Okay, twice.

          • You know, now that I think about it, back when I drank 151, I was fifty or so pounds heavier than I am now. And I drank a lot more and a lot more regularly. Drinking 151 now could be a mistake.

          • The worst case I ever had was Peppermint Schnopps & Dr Pepper. It was years before I drank Dr Pepper again, and it had been a favorite up to that point. I’ve gotten more drunk than I got that night, but never suffered much afterwards.

          • One, peppermint schnopps and Dr. Pepper sounds terrible. Two, I know it is time to stop reminiscing about 151 and the good old days when I remember I was 15 lbs. lighter and drank regularly. Thanks for making me feel fat and old, Will ;).

          • Mary, I’m pretty sure you made EVERY one feel old earlier this week.

I have the MOST fun leaving my comfort zone, though in reality I am probably just moving to different subregions of my comfort zone. It’s pretty big to begin with.

Sorry I can’t make Leaguefest, but I hope you all have a blast. We’re having a house warming party/ Memorial Day cookout (I refuse to call anything without at least 16 hours of smoked meat a “barbecue”) at the new house with apparently 14+ overnight guests. Things are gonna get weird… in a great way! First of them arrives tonight, so we’ll probably spend the next 48 hours drinking and watching playoff action. Wahoo!

          • 151? Will, bringing 151 to Las Vegas is like bringing sand to the beach — they have lots of it there already.

Now, there’s a little something-something I intend to share with the doc, since I doubt the hotel bar is going to have any of the stuff he likes. You are, of course, welcome to join us for a few of those fingers of usquebaugh.

  2. I plan to spend my weekend working on stuff for my gaming convention and being jealous of the leaguers in Vegas.

I got some Lillet from the BevMo that just opened up near my house, so I’ll be drinking some Vesper Martinis while I’m at it.

  3. I have one main thing to do this weekend. Read the D&D Next playtest rules!

  4. Jay, dude. It’s gonna be a blast. By the end of it you’ll regret not having stayed the extra day.

    See you there!

    • If you guys don’t come home with a ton of regrets, I’ll be angry.

      • I feel the same way. I was going to tell people not to do anything I wouldn’t do, but that is such a short list.
