Sometimes Ignoring A Comments Thread Is The Wiser Choice Of Action

I thought to comment on an American plane shooting down an Iranian drone over Iraq. But then I read the comments thread on the article. After about twelve comments, I felt a whole lot dumber than I felt when I started. As is so often the case with such web-based phenomena, XKCD got there first:
I’m glad that when someone chooses to comment here, they generally have something intelligent to say. I’d much rather have fewer, but better, comments than a lot of comments that are as totally brainless as this article in Wired got.
