I’m working simultaneously on several new posts for my Ideology Is The Enemy series, and because of this I’ve been thinking a bit about the concept of evil. There are a few things I want to say on the subject, and I’m trying to figure out how much groundwork will be necessary to make my arguments. If everyone is on the same page already, I’ll want to gloss over some things; if everyone’s thinking is pretty far from my own, I’ll want to spend more time laying a foundation to build the proper case.
Because of this I’ve decided to ask for some help from the League’s Hive Mind. So, dear reader – be you a contributor, a regular commenter, or haven’t yet ever commented here – let me ask you a question:
If we were to make a list of the top three most evil events in the history of mankind, what event(s) do you feel certain should make that list?
I’d prefer the answers be specific rather than conceptual. For example, I’m looking for answers like “the Holocaust” or “the Bataan Death March” more than I am “genocide” or “racism.” If possible, list at least one in the threads, but please no more than three. Also, if the reason for your answer is fairly obvious (e.g.: again, the Holocaust) feel free to just name the event if you wish. If, on the other hand, the answer requires some additional insight for a moron like me to figure out how you got from point A to point B (e.g.: “the ninth amendment – because it led to X, which led to Y, which allowed this really evil thing that happened”) then please briefly describe your thinking.
I have taken the liberty of noting Kenny G’s 2010 Holiday Show with the post pic to get it out of the way, because that one’s a little too obvious.
Thanks to everyone in advance for your assistance.
