James Horner, Rest in Peace

Film composer James Horner died earlier today in a plane crash. Horner is most famous for composing the scores to Braveheart and Titanic, but he was responsible for the music of over 120 films, including Commando, An American Tail, Field of Dreams, Glory, Apocalypto, and many other great films that would have been less great if not for Horner’s haunting scores.

Here are my favorites. What are yours?

1. The Name of the Rose:

2. Legends of the Fall:

3. Willow:

  1. I texted this to my brother, an orchestral trombonist and Horner fan:

R.I.P. James Horner. In memoriam, I am blindly firing a pulse rifle and crapping my pants as aliens drop down through a false ceiling.
