Why this place kicks ass

Earlier today I wrote a post that touched on the rhetoric used to bolster the pro-choice argument, in which I was somewhat critical of same.  I was deeply afraid that the comments would rapidly devolve into alternating charges of “you hate babies” and “no, you hate women.”  I posted it with some trepidation.

Instead, the comments section devolved into a discussion of the Nazgul and Discworld, while still allowing for plenty of people to raise intelligent, provocative questions.

To which my only response is one of deep and abiding gratitude.  It is a source of constant delight to be a part of such an incredibly thoughtful, surprising and nerdish community.

  1. This place is, at its best, what rec.arts.sf.written used to be except that instead of not discussing science fiction, we don’t discuss politics.

  2. Hear hear.

The quality of writing, and the quality of thought is part of what makes me love this place so much. That I like the people here so much is the other.

    • Even I, the untouchable? Well shiver me timbers, Tod. Don’t ruin your reputation on account of me. You’re a damn good guy–love your very well thought out posts and you always, without fail, behave like a genuine and sincere gentlemen.

Hey, I’m honored to have you as a friend at the League.
