Solicitations

Today is the Better Half’s birthday, and it looks like the Monkey has a fever. Thus, I don’t know if I’ll be able to post a Stupid Tuesday Question, despite knowing what a soul-crushing disappointment that will be to all of you. (I may post it tomorrow, rendering it even stupider for a Tuesday.)

In the meantime, consider this my way of soliticiting your opinions/requests. Anything you would be curious to know about from inside the medical world? Any topics you’d find interesting for future posts?

  1. Ever consider calling it a Stupid Bloody Tuesday Question?

  2. What do you think about off-label usage of drugs?

    • In that vein, I’d love to read a post about Medicinal Weed from the perspective of a doctor.

  3. Would reform of medical malpractice laws alter the practice of medicine, and if so, for good or ill? Granted you’re affiliated with a large institution so you may feel the impact of that topic differently than does a solo or private practitioner. Still, does the issue of liabilty arise in any significant way and if so, do you experience it as a deterrent or other factor you have in mind when rendering care to patients — or perhaps more likely in a big institutional situation, does the administration do things to intervene in your practice that seem to be motivated by liability concerns?

    • I’d like to see this more focused on “how has the notion of liability affected the way that you practice”–the whole “defensive medicine” thing–because “malpractice reform” means different things to different people.
