So… what are you listening to?
Every now and again, when I stumble across a couple of songs that have a single identical lyric, this makes the songs jump between each other in my head for the rest of my life… even if they’ve got nothing else to do with each other.
I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne
It tastes just like Coca Cola, C-O-L-A cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name, she said blah-blah-blah
She had 9/10 pants and a very big bra
I took a couple of flicks and she was enthused
I said, “How do you like the show?”
she said, “I was very amused”
I started throwin’ bass, she started throwin’ back mid-range
But when I sprung the question, she acted kind of strange
Then when I asked, “Do ya have a man?” she tried to pretend
She said, “No I don’t, I only have a friend”
Come on, I’m not even goin’ for it
This is what I’m goin’ sing
You, you got what I need but you say he’s just a friend
And you say he’s just a friend
Anyway, here are both songs so you can mash them together in your head for the rest of your life too:

I finally started listening to Big Drill Car’s Neverending Endeavor (a couple new songs plus various alternate versions/B-Sides and rarities). I forgot how good they were.

Does having the theme to Noodle Bug count? My son has been on a big kick for that.
The Rutles. Some of it, especially the pastiches of the early Beatlemania songs, is really charming.
Ouch (Help)
I Must Be in Love (several)
With a Girl Like You (If I Fell)
