The Crash Test Dummies ought to be remembered for more than just that danged “Mmm mmm mmm mmm” song. The album Give Yourself a Hand was excellent and Songs of the Unforgiven was downright amazing… but everybody only remembers Mmm mmm mmm mmm off of God Shuffled His Feet. Now, I *LIKE* that album, but you listen to it two or three times in a row and you’ll find yourself noticing that they recorded the same song 12 times. It wasn’t a *BAD* song… but that didn’t make it an awesome album.
Anyway, I’ve been listening to Keep a Lid on Things.
They just recorded the same song 12 times? That’s a bit harsh. And heck, “Mmm mmm mmm mmm” isn’t even the best song off of God Shuffled His Feet. “I Think I’ll Disappear Now” is.
And what about Superman’s Song off The Ghosts That Haunt Me? I suppose your Amazon overlords didn’t recommend that one??? 😉
That song was good but the album has a lot of fast-forwarding or skipping or whatever the kids today call it.
I actually loved the titular track of God Shuffled his Feet itself. Seemed like a whimsical sort of deity that one wouldn’t mind drinking a bit of wine with.
Have you seen the video? If you haven’t, you should.
It’s kind of haunting.
