There’s a local band (well, from Denver anyway) that has started getting more and more visibility. Unlike The Fray (the last band to make it big from Denver), The Chain Gang of 1974 spends less time processing.
Not saying that’s good, not saying that’s bad. I’m just saying.
Their new album, Wayward Fire, has a good beat. You can dance to it.
Here’s their song “Hold On”. It gets stuck in my head. I hope it gets stuck in yours. In the good way.
So… what are you listening to?
Reminiscent of Friendly Fires. Both groups seem to be part of a “ravers-grow-up” sound that I really love, despite having only had slight contact with raves back in the day.
I’m in. They’ve got a nice, “trance-y” quality to their beats.
Thanks, Jaybird! I love stuff like this. Pythagoras was onto something when he observed music is a sort of medicine.
Booth Love: Umphrey’s McGee Bonus extra: includes the chessboard where I used to play along the lake.
Above the Clouds: California Guitar Trio
Batteries May Drain: Steve Hauschildt Guilty pleasure music, I used to build hours of this sorta thing, armed with a Casio drum machine, a sampler and an Atari ST.
Living pert-near Denver, I’ll have to keep an eye peeled for these guys. It’s good stuff.
I’ve had The Airborne Toxic Event (first album) in my player for about …. oh …. three weeks now. Can’t seem to get it out. You know that band? I saw them about two months ago in D and was just blown away.
And my daughter has been trying – pretty successfully – to get me hooked on Kid Cudi. (Kids these days.)
