To mix the whole “female vocalist” thing together with the “guilty pleasure” thing and I’m reminded of Independent Love Song.
You may remember this one from the mid-90’s.
Yeah, I sang along to it in the car. Top volume.
It’s not aged that well, however. I admit that. Strangely, while researching the whole “female vocalist” thing that was going on in the 90’s I found that not only did Scarlet sing “Independent Love Song” but so did German Punk Rock band The Bates.
In reclaiming it, they made it a song that, once again, you can sing along to in the car at top volume.
So… what are you listening to?
This week I’ve been listing primarily to two albums:
“12 Nights in Hollywood,” which is a recently remastered and released 77 (!) track live recording of Ella Fitzgerald at the Crescendo from 1961.

“Rome,” which is a collaborative effort by Danger Mouse and Italian film scorer Daniele Luppi.

Both are pretty awesome.
“Talking Heads – This Must Be The Place” at the moment.

It may or may not be reflective of our relationship that I always sang along to the Bates version (and didn’t even remember the original until you posted it).
