The original plan for this post would have been to do something like “this is a guest post from our very own Cecilia!” and have every word be “meow” for 40 or 50 words with a couple of links to Cecilia’s favorite things. That would be on *THAT* side of the “crazy cat person” line, however, rather than on this side of it. (Why, yes. I *AM* still sick.)
So, instead, I’ll explain what Cecilia’s two favorite things that aren’t “me” or “Maribou” are and have that stand for itself.
The first thing is the Yeowww! Yellow Banana. Yeowww! toys are the best cat toys I’ve found out there (and I am on this side of “crazy cat person”). Here’s the theory: they’re made with denim and thick, durable stitching. They are stuffed with 100% catnip. Not “cotton and catnip”. Not “filler and catnip essence”. They are stuffed with *CATNIP*. The boys in the house tend to play with catnip toys by hugging them, biting them, then licking them until they’re good and stoned. Cecilia, however, lies down on the toys and after a few minutes, rolls over. The banana is the A+ #1 hit with all four of them. (Though they also have ones shaped like a cigar, or a fish, or a Rainbow that are all cute as heck as well… but the point is that they’re as strong as denim, the stitching is strong, and it’s FULL OF CATNIP.)
The other thing that Cecilia holds up as her favorite thing next to us (and, now that I think about it, maybe she only likes us because we get her these things) is Shaved Bonito Flakes. A pinch of these as a treat will have her mewling and almost standing on her back legs (dude, that’s, like, jumping 4 feet in the air for the other cats). The funny part is that the last 10% of the can is always bonito dust and she screams for that twice as loudly. When she eats it, she usually eats it so vigorously that it goes up her nose and makes her sneeze. It’s kitty cocaine.
Those of you with cats would be well served to try out one (or both) of these. Cecilia stands by them.
So that’s my (our) recommendation for you this week.
Alas, Lucy’s trip to the vet today came back today badly. Pancreatic tumor, liver involvement. She’s 18, so she’s had a full life for a cat that was rescued as a stray kitten, but she’s definitely not too much longer for the world.
Perhaps she might find one of these therapeutic.
Aw, jeez.
That was awful timing on my part.
No, it isn’t. It might actually perk her up a bit, she’s lost weight but she’s still eating and meowing and doing other cat things, but she’s obviously not feeling well.
Getting medical herbal treatments certainly ought not to make her feel worse!
Aww, so sorry about your baby Patrick.
OMG is Lucy not my baby. She’d kill you and mount your head on a pike for suggesting such a thing.
Thanks for another great cat post!
My
parasitescats treat this stuff like crack cocaine.Patrick, maybe get some of this for Lucy. She’ll be grateful for it, and you have my sympathies.
Maybe a few less meds there jaybird. Or share, either way.
