Well, this week was the first “rough” week of the new job. Not in the “they gave me hard things to do” sense of the term but… well, in my old job, I would regularly have people come up to me and say “Jaybird, I need support and you are the knowledgable and respected team member from whom I wish to receive it.” I would go with them and make their job easier. It was a good job. I liked it a lot.
This week, I was The New Guy on the team. I stood in the corner, I took notes, I watched other people be knowledgable and respected. When my new teammates asked me how I was doing, I cheerfully answered “drinkin’ from the firehose!”
Sigh.
So I am looking forward to doing laundry tomorrow night. (Though I have a movie date on Saturday with a former comrade and we’re going to go see Django together while Maribou goes to see Les Mis.)
So… what’s on your docket?
You had me at “Django…”
My work week has been quite different. Contract ends on 31 January and as such, there’s really no will to accomplish anything meaningful only to hand it over at the end of the month. I’ve tried to drag out the few tasks I’ve been handed, but for the most part I’ve been reduced to watchi.g the internet paint dry while waiting for the phone to ring.
(But I do have a job lined up after this one ends, so no whining…)
I approve Maribou’s taste. Les Mis is great.
Isn’t it Les Miz? Otherwise it would be pronounced…well…hm. Given the typical woman’s response to it, that’s actually kind of appropriate.
I am so looking forward to it, and especially geeking out about the audio for the musical numbers being recorded AS ACTED instead of dubbed in separately. eeeeee.
Possibly playing Mage Knight with my son tomorrow evening. Definitely playing Catan with friends Saturday afternoon, and Pathfinder with a different set of friends in the evening.
You had me at a UHF reference.
“SUPPLIES!”
NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
STUPID!
Not many people know this, but the turtle is nature’s suction cup.
Gimme a steak. Medium rare.
Working ALL weekend on Alexander Hamilton’s coat…well not all weekend Sunday going out to dinner with my hubby for our six month anniversary.
Did Burr leave that big a hole in it?
Even as someone who watches a lot of violent movies and has, at least in the past, played a lot of violent video games, there were parts of Django that were difficult for me to watch. It’s not the violence itself so much as it’s, well, it’s what lies behind it. I watched it a few days ago, and I’m still trying to decide what I think of it.
Parker called me up and said “let’s go see it!” and I said “but I don’t wanna!” and he said “COME ON!” and so we’re seeing it tomorrow.
Saturday – funeral, visit grandparents, and attend a housewarming party.
Sunday- take Junior to a library. Unfortunately our local library is open only a few hours a weeks so we will have to go hunting.
I’m sorry for your loss, Mary. Glad you have some lively activities planned for the rest of the weekend.
Ugh, that sounds very off-hand, but I don’t mean it that way at all. We have our own sadness around here this weekend. *hugs*
Thank you *hugs*
