So Florence got me thinking about the female vocalists and I realized that I really haven’t explored those much at all!

So my Wednesday music notepad file that had withered down to seven songs (and, honestly, one of those is likely to be posted to the main page for a jukebox open thread) has now grown back to a healthy and lucky thirteen. Well, twelve now.

Tori Amos is, as I mentioned, my absolutely favorite female vocalist. Here is my absolutely favorite song of hers. (It’s off of the absolutely gorgeous Boys for Pele.)

I’m a huge fan of Emily Haines of Metric. (She also has solo stuff and is part of the Broken Social Scene collective) I’ve never seen a woman rock the stage live like she does.
