Electronica!

The first time I heard this music described as “bloop bleep music”, I laughed out loud because it’s a perfect description. I later found out that it’s actually a dismissive term. What? No! It’s the best way to describe it to someone who has never heard it before.

I find it soothing, myself. A nice steady bass (maybe wavy, maybe not), repetitive tracks laid down on top of that, climbing hills then jogging down them. I have no idea how people can party to it… it makes me want to sleep. Or troubleshoot problems. Or drive. (Then I notice it’s after midnight.)

Anyway, I’ve recently picked up (I know, I know, I’m the last guy on the block to get it) a copy of Deadmau5’s 4×4=12 album.

This is better living through technology right here. Check out Cthulhu Sleeps. Check out Some Chords.

So that’s my recommendation for you this week.

  1. Cthulhu Sleeps was an… interesting piece. Give me a strobe light and I could have gone into an epileptic fit… 🙂

  2. There are a lot of free electronica radio shows available as podcasts. I listen to “Solaris International” and “VONYC Sessions”.

    • PS my wife wants to point out that she always calls it “bippity”.
