Sunday!

So what are you reading/watching?

While out and about and running errands yesterday, I happened to pick up Ultimate Daredevil and Elektra because, well, ultimate Spider-Man has become the book that we are addicted to in our house and I remember that Daredevil had his moments and Elektra was, indeed, one of them. Now that I think about it, the whole “Born Again” storyline, which I went back and revisited a month or so ago, still holds up… and I am now old enough to understand Nuke’s “Give me a red one!” “Give me a white one!” lines. (At the time, I thought he wanted greasepaint to paint his face which was smearing). That was the storyline that turned Daredevil into something more than a spiderless Spider-Man.

I digress. I want to see if the Ultimate DD is any good.

You?

  1. FWIW, Ultimate Daredevil and Elektra is way more about Elektra, and I think it will have you twinging with memories of the 90s much as it did me. I thought it was really good – once I got past the twinging – which shouldn’t have been a surprise since Greg Rucka wrote it. There’s not a lot of fighting but there’s hella character development.

  2. I’m almost embarrassed to admit it, but IDW’s “Dungeons and Dragons” is the comic I look forward to the most every month (Maribou has my copy of the latest issue). It has a great combination of humor and action with solid D&D roots.

Aside from comics, I have been reading Gichin Funakoshi’s autobiography, “Karate-Do: My Way of Life.”
