Saturday!

I’m still going through New Vegas but I’m very much looking forward to Batman: Arkham City (it comes out Tuesday!). My local Game Shoppe is having a costume contest and the winner gets $20 off. The only Batman character that I look like is Hugo Strange and I’m not going to dress up like him.

So… what are you playing?

Jaybird

Jaybird is Birdmojo on Xbox Live and Jaybirdmojo on Playstation's network. He's been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 and it was Zork that taught him how to touch-type. If you've got a song for Wednesday, a commercial for Saturday, a recommendation for Tuesday, an essay for Monday, or, heck, just a handful a questions, fire off an email to AskJaybird-at-gmail.com

  1. Not sure if any game of any kind counts but figured I’d participate! Still very much into my Legion of Everblight from the miniature game Hordes by Privateer Press. Been playing that particular faction for about a year but as it always is with these games you learn something new almost every time you pick up their books. I will probably be doing some modeling for the next few hours.

  2. My gaming community has a TF2 league that just started.
That and trying to grind through five more completions of The Binding of Isaac so I can see the real ending.

  3. Just rented Orange Box, so finally had the pleasure of playing Portal (and finally understand a certain commonly-used phrase from that game). I guess I should now attempt to acquire Portal 2, although I’m not sure I’m ready for a full-length game along the same lines — the three hours or so felt about right to me, maybe even a bit too much.

Arkham City is due already? Woohoo! Lots to look forward to this fall…

    • I found the cake jokes to be not the funniest part of the game. I mean, as asides go, it was a brilliant aside.

I found the jokes about “science” to be the best jokes in the game.

Few people make “science” jokes, however.

      • GLaDOS was delightful — my only complaint was that I had a hard time understanding the robotic voice. I keep forgetting to hunt around for a transcript.

        • You can play with subtitles on, though I’m not sure where the option is (if it’s available at all) for the console version.
