  1. Dune Messiah. Dune was good, but not so good that I feel compelled to devour the rest of the series. However, they’re short, and a good enough read to sprinkle in between various non-fiction readings.

    • I’ve always felt strongly that you aren’t really getting what Dune was about until you finish Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.
That said, don’t read anything after God Emperor of Dune, surely you will have better things to read.

      • In general, you should avoid any “continuations” of a series by someone other than the original author, even if the original author got a co-writing credit (I’m looking at you, Arthur C. Clarke).

        • That is good advice , but even Chapterhouse: Dune and Heretics of Dune are cringe-worthy, despite coming from Frank himself.

      • That’s encouraging, at least encouraging enough to get me to read as far as Children. I’ve already been warned off of anything not written by Frank. Thanks!

  2. I just finished The Forever War, which fills one of the largest gaps in my sci-fi history, and NutureShock, which makes me want to pester the good doctor with questions.

Next up will be either Iron Council or Thinking Fast and Slow, depending on my mood when I have some reading time this week.
