Ogre!

One of the first non-Milton Bradley games I had ever heard of was a mysterious game called “Ogre”. The idea behind the game was simple. One player was this huge and waaaaaaaay overly powered tank and players 2-whatever were the forces that would go on to be creamed by this tank (seriously, for every story I heard that the Ogre got beat, I heard 10 stories about the Ogre winning). Toy Stores, of course, did not carry this game. The comic book store did not carry this game. The internet did not yet exist… and so I lived on stories of “yeah, I used to have it but…” and “the guy who had it moved away…”.

By the time that I had a car and disposable cash, video gaming took up my spare time and by the time that I had moved back to board games, I had well forgotten Ogre.

Until I stumbled across its Kickstarter.

Yes, it’s being reprinted.

Awesome. I might finally have to play this puppy…

  1. Now that I think about it, Steve Jackson is probably the go-to guy whenever I find myself thinking “I can’t think of anything to write about”.
