Wednesday!

I may have mentioned before that Catherine Wheel is one of my favorite bands. There are so very many interesting things that they did in so many of their albums. Just different concepts that they explored.

Well, one of my favorite tropes in any given rock song is the “start slow, speed up, kick butt” trope (Lightning Crashes provides an excellent example of this). Well, one of the things that Catherine Wheel did with their song “Heal” was reverse it. Begin by kicking butt, tease a slowdown, kick butt… and then slow the song down until you got to the end. It’s like listening to a song backwards. This blew me away when I realized what they had pulled off.

So… what are you listening to?

Jaybird

Jaybird is Birdmojo on Xbox Live and Jaybirdmojo on Playstation's network. He's been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 and it was Zork that taught him how to touch-type. If you've got a song for Wednesday, a commercial for Saturday, a recommendation for Tuesday, an essay for Monday, or, heck, just a handful a questions, fire off an email to AskJaybird-at-gmail.com

  1. I have not listened to any music since Monday. (iTunes was being a pain and I didn’t want to reboot the desktop with so many of your tabs open with partly written posts in them.)

I think I am in the mood for some summer music though. Country Grammar, Sunshine, etc.

70s educational filmstrip motorik with great atmosphere. he/they’re british, so i feel there’s a lot of little cultural cues i’m missing, but it’s got a bright and hopeful edge to it. (as opposed to the equally great but far more horror film focused demdike stare)
