Wednesday!

I suppose I should make room for a couple of covers that I, still, haven’t quite wrapped my head around yet.

We’ve all heard Scissor Sisters’ take on Comfortably Numb (and if you haven’t, dude, you seriously need to hear it):

There’s also Electronic’s cover of Can’t Find My Way Home:

I’m left confused, like I’m eating a new dish with all kinds of new and foreign spices. I don’t know if I like it… maybe I need seconds…

So… what are you listening to?

  1. I still maintain that the first Electronic album (s/t) functions well if you treat it as Disc 2 of ‘Technique’. There are some great songs on that first one.

Twisted Tenderness, well, I liked ‘Like No Other’ and the title track. Maybe I’ll give it another spin right now.

The 2nd was pretty terrible, IIRC. Looking on my shelf, I appear to have sold that one.

    • I love that album.

Now, granted, it’s more of a soundtrack album… you’ll want to listen to it while you cook, say. While friends come over for dinner and you’re all sitting around arguing about Batman.

      It’s an excellent periphery album.

      • Weirdly, I heard a track off it the other day in Trader Joe’s – not even one of the ‘hits’, it was ‘Tighten Up’.

‘Some Distant Memory’ is one of the prettiest songs Sumner’s ever done. The end (that oboe?!) is gorgeous.
