Again?

Jaybird mentioned the “that song” phenomenon recently. He was talking about a very particular “that song”.

Now, I don’t listen to pop radio the way I used to, so I wasn’t sure which “that song” he was talking about, but it took nearly zero time to figure that out. In the process of figuring that out, I found a couple of funny videos… and I also found this, which is cool enough that it’s worth putting “that song” out where you have to hear it, one more time (although someone needs to tell these guys that too many popups is just too many popups, period).  The kids think it’s awesome:

It’s a gimmick, but it’s a cool gimmick. They’ve got a couple of good songs in their “original stuff we wrote” category, too.

  1. I think that much of the “That Song” phenomenon with this particular That Song is that Gotye’s songs strike me as fun for musicians to try on and take for a spin. A capella groups, minimalist groups, you name it, he writes stuff that is more fun than the average pop song.

    WHICH MEANS THAT THEY’RE INESCAPABLE

    • THEY’RE EVEN HERE ON YOUR BLOG.

(Yeah, I did this to you on purpose.)
