Is it real, or is it satire?

It’s from The Onion so that’s kind of a clue — but it reminds me of a comment that our friends from California who also moved here made a while back. They mentioned that their experiences with churches here is that people aren’t any more or less religious here in Tennessee than they were in California. What they are is more focused on punishment and pain for sinners.

So as it often does, The Onion hit precisely the right note.

  1. I read the article on home churching and I am blown away! I feel so bad for the children in these families that are being brainwashed by there own parents. It is a horrible thing when a message meant to bring joy and hope is manipulated into something used to promote fear. This is especially true with children who are desperate to feel accepted.
