Coffee lovers may be shaking in their boots as Starbucks announces today its intention to close about 600 of its stores nationwide.
Could it be that the market is over-saturated with places to buy four-dollar lattes — most of them being Starbucks? Or is Starbucks being undercut by McDonald’s and its gourmet coffee drinks? (These seem to be the same coffee McDonald’s always sold, but this time put over ice cubes and sweetened with multiple slurps of Italian soda syrup.) Or is it that people are no longer interested in spending four dollars on a cup of coffee when they now have to spend that same four dollars on a gallon of gasoline?
