The first returns from New Hampshire are in, as the town of Dixville Notch voted and reported its returns just after the stroke of midnight. The results:
Democrats | Republicans | ||
---|---|---|---|
Obama | 7 | McCain | 4 |
Edwards | 2 | Romney | 2 |
Richardson | 1 | Giuliani | 1 |
Considering that there are a total of twenty registered voters in Dixville Notch, that’s a pretty good turnout. Readers are cautioned that Dixville Notch does not always accurately predict the outcome of the New Hampshire elections. In 2004, Dixville Democrats went for Wesley Clark, for instance. But this time, I think they may be reasonably close.
In case you missed it, that’s zero votes for Hillary Clinton, zero votes for Fred Thompson, and zero votes for Mike Huckabee. Those candidates can be expected to do somewhat better in other precincts, however.
