The sample chapter of A Game Of Thrones seduced me with this bit from the prologue: “His cloak was his crowning glory; sable, thick and black and soft as sin.” So through one of LOOG’s Amazon associate links, I bought the four-book set for my Kindle and will eventually catch up to the ongoing book club.

I watched the HBO series in a (very long) night, and hit the bookstore the next day. I decided to skip the first having just seen it, and am 3/4s of the way through the second.

I’m surprised how much I like it.

Six chapters in and I’ve already fallen quite in love with Jon Snow and Arya Stark, and fallen in hate with ~~Caligula~~ Jamie Lannister. This Martin guy can write.
