Sunday!

As part of yesterday’s chores, we (mostly Maribou) took on: The Front Table.

This is the table that, ideally, doesn’t have anything on it… but we go shopping and happen to pick up a paperback, or a friend gives us a copy of something they wrote, or we get birthday cards, or an article from the little local independent newspaper… it all ends up on this table. After a few months, the table ceases to be recognizable as anything but a pile of stuff.

It is no longer a pile of stuff. It is now, once again, a table. All that to say: I found my copy of A Game of Thrones! I found my copy of American Gods! I found both Coraline and Corpse Bride!

Now I just need a week off…

Anyway, what are you reading and/or watching?

  1. I need four days off to decompress, followed by ten days off to do things around the house that require lots of daylight labor, followed by another four days off to re-decompress.

Sadly, I’m going to get none of those things in the near future.

The garage is a lot tidier today, though. At least now the piles of crap are organized so that I know what is in each pile, that’s something. Also, I can sit at the computer in the garage without worrying about a pile of crap collapsing onto me.

  2. Just finished watching football (dammit, Steelers…). Now I’m watching Strikeforce from last night on DVR.

        • Let’s put it this way, I spent 4 hours Friday night reading it because once I got about half-way in I couldn’t put it down.

Looking back over the series so far I’m really impressed with how organic the setting has become. Just enough plot sticks from book to book to make the thing feel real, without it killing me when I end each book.

  3. I will be finishing the last 50 pages of Wicked by Gregory Maguire before bed tonight. I wanted to make sure I read the book before I saw the play in March.
Your post has me itching to watch a Tim Burton film now. I am way overdue. Perhaps The Nightmare Before Christmas.

  4. I tried watching Super Troopers while putting together a shelving unit. My boss quotes it endlessly. He has not grown in my estimation as a result.

    • Just try to appreciate the “film” for what little it is worth. It can be funny if you let it.
