Now we’ll never know if I was right about how the Senate would vote on Harriet Miers. A more interesting question is which way the Shrub will go for plan “B” — will he move right or center? I expect the answer is “to the right” since the big weakness before was a lack of support from the right. We’ll soon be in for a bruising fight on that emperor of all wedge issues, abortion.

BTW, I’ve been trying to blog this for nearly half an hour; for some reason Blogger is going slow this morning. Maybe everyone on Earth (or at least the U.S.A.) is blogging about Miers’ withdrawal.
