Roma Instaurata

This is as cool as it gets for Roman history junkies. The Beeb reports that a multidisciplinary team has created a virtual Rome. Hopefully the bulk of the work will be made available to the public soon, and there is discussion of converting the model to a form usable in Second Life. (That would be a reason for me to sign up for Second Life. I’ve recently found a different way to burn hours on the computer.)

You can go take a look at UVA’s model of Rome in 320 AD here. And here is UCLA’s, which compares the contemporary ruins with the virtual reconstruction. I, perspicio!
