Lagavulin

On Doctor Saunders’ endorsement, I have been keeping my eyes open for Lagavulin to see how it compares with my favored Laphroiag. Costco had 16-year Lagavulin for fifty dollars. I was going to pass on it, but then recalled that Costco doesn’t restock things reliably, and I noticed there were only four bottles left on the shelf. I snagged one.

And I’m really glad I did.

  1. I’m so pleased you’re enjoying it. I don’t claim to be an expert on single malts by any stretch, but it’s always been my favorite.

  2. Thanks for the mention. I’m always open to trying another highly recommended single malt. You might also try Balvenie Doublewood, 12 yrs., if you haven’t already. It’s not the smoothest, but it I particularly enjoy the flavor attributable to its aging in 2 successive types of oak casks.

  3. As one who seconded the recommendation, I’m glad it turned out well. It’s a great scotch.
